Netflix

The streaming giant has partnered with Sesame Workshop to bring new episodes of the beloved children’s show to viewers. This comes after Warner Bros. Discovery decided not to renew its deal for the program as part of a strategic change for its Max streaming service.

Netflix continues to prioritize family-friendly programming with exciting additions coming this year. Sesame Street will debut its reimagined 56th season, packed with loveable characters like Elmo and Cookie Monster, along with 90 hours of previous episodes. Kids can enjoy new adventures like Cookie Monster’s Cookie Cart, Abby’s Fairy Garden, and beloved segments like Elmo’s World. Peppa Pig fans can also engage with this cherished character through new episodes and an all-in-one mobile game.

Faith and family values meet education and fun, as Netflix reaffirms its commitment to wholesome entertainment that brings families together. Whether it's a cozy movie night or a quick break from daily routines, Netflix offers the perfect solution for quality family time. And with new content regularly added, there's always something to look forward to and share with loved ones.

But it's not just about entertainment and education - Netflix also recognizes the importance of representation and diversity in children's programming. That's why they have expanded their offerings to include diverse characters and stories that reflect the world we live in. From shows like Carmen Sandiego, featuring a strong female lead character, to Motown Magic, which celebrates African American culture and music, Netflix is committed to creating inclusive content for all children.

Christopher Gutierrez

Christopher Gutierrez’s quick thinking and generosity became the saving grace for 28-year-old Tiffany Slaton, who survived three harrowing weeks lost in California’s Sierra Nevada wilderness. Slaton set out on a solo hike on April 20, but her plans took a drastic turn when a fall and an avalanche left her stranded. Out of food and supplies, she relied on foraging leeks and melting snow to survive, losing most of her gear along the way.

On May 13, after days of navigating the rugged terrain, Slaton stumbled upon Vermilion Valley Resort, owned by Gutierrez. Thanks to his practice of leaving cabins open for emergencies, she found shelter. Gutierrez, who discovered her after about eight hours, immediately recognized her despite her silence when she ran to him for a hug. “It was a surreal moment,” he shared, knowing he was witnessing the end of her ordeal.

His act of keeping cabins accessible for those in need may have saved Slaton’s life. Weak and dehydrated but miraculously in good condition, she was taken to a hospital for treatment. Slaton later expressed deep gratitude for Gutierrez’s life-saving kindness, stating that without the resort, "I would not be here.”

Mandy Eggleston

An 11-year-old girl, Mandy Eggleston, saved her family from a devastating house fire caused by a lightning strike. Mandy's quick thinking and bravery ensured her mom and brother escaped safely, as she pushed them out of their shaking home. Despite spraining her ankle, her mom, Jamie, praised Mandy for her calm, adult-like actions, including staying out of the house once everyone was safe.

The Eggleston family later reunited with Fire Station 13, tearfully thanking the firefighters for their efforts. Though they lost their two cats and much of their home, the family chose to rebuild in Oklahoma, moved by the “Oklahoma Standard” and acts of kindness they received.

This tragedy highlighted Mandy's heroism and bravery, proving extraordinary acts can come from even the youngest among us

Taco Bell for their Live Más Scholarship

Tennessee native Crimsyn Price uncovered a unique way to fund her college education through the Taco Bell Live Más Scholarship, making her dream of graduating debt-free a reality. Designed for young individuals passionate about their goals, this scholarship focuses on ambition rather than grades, offering financial and community support.

Price discovered the opportunity while working at Taco Bell and, with encouragement from her manager, applied with a two-minute video explaining her aspirations. The straightforward process earned her $10,000 in 2020, which helped cover essential college expenses during her first two semesters at East Tennessee State University.

Throughout her college years, she continued to renew the scholarship by showcasing her progress, including participating in a medical brigade in Ecuador to provide free healthcare. Thanks to the Live Más Scholarship, Price is now graduating with a double major in biology and health science, pursuing her dream to create a pediatric clinic focused on communication accessibility.

The Taco Bell Live Más Scholarship is open to young people aged 16–26, including Taco Bell employees who enjoy a higher likelihood of selection. With a focus on passion, vision, and impact, the scholarship window typically opens in the fall and closes in January.

God's Pit Crew

Almost seven months after Hurricane Helene devastated their home near Mount Mitchell, Brian and Melissa Greene stepped into a new chapter of life, thanks to the extraordinary efforts of volunteers from God’s Pit Crew. This faith-driven nonprofit rallied a team of compassionate individuals from across the country to rebuild the Greenes’ home as part of a larger mission to construct 25 homes for families displaced by the catastrophic storm.

Hurricane Helene left Western North Carolina grappling with record-breaking floods and landslides, but the Greenes’ survival, escape, and eventual recovery stand as a testament to the power of community and resilience. Within days of the disaster, God’s Pit Crew promised the Greenes a brand-new home, an undertaking made possible by countless volunteers who worked tirelessly on the project.

Construction began on March 30, and the fully furnished, three-bedroom house was completed just in time for an emotional Good Friday reveal. A heartfelt detail included in the home is a framed collection of signatures from every volunteer who helped bring it to life. This project is one of nine homes the organization has built so far in areas affected by Helene, demonstrating the remarkable impact of faith, hope, and action in the face of devastation.

Dr. Eileen Reilly

Dr. Reilly has spent decades dedicating her career to caring for Boston’s unhoused population with empathy and compassion. At just 26, she co-founded Women’s Lunch Place, a day shelter for women facing homelessness, with kindness at its core. Her vision of dignity for all was reflected in small but meaningful details, like serving meals on real china and creating an inviting space built on hospitality.

After leaving the shelter in 1986 to attend medical school, Reilly specialized in psychiatry, driven by a desire to heal psychological wounds. She has since returned to Women’s Lunch Place as a psychiatrist, providing mental health care to some of the city’s most vulnerable women. Beyond clinical treatment, Reilly takes a profoundly humane approach to her work, offering comfort, understanding, and even moments of respite over coffee or a meal. For her, these connections go far beyond what’s "billable" and reflect a deeply personal mission to bring peace and support to her patients' lives.

While homelessness remains a persistent challenge, Dr. Reilly continues to find fulfillment in the progress and healing she helps facilitate. Her unwavering dedication is a testament to the power of compassion in transforming individual lives and strengthening communities.

Jon Bon Jovi

Jon Bon Jovi’s nonprofit restaurant, JBJ Soul Kitchen, has come under scrutiny from Daniel Rodrick, the mayor of Toms River, New Jersey. JBJ Soul Kitchen operates on a pay-it-forward model, offering meals to those experiencing food insecurity. Guests who cannot pay are encouraged to volunteer their time, and since its inception in 2011, the nonprofit has reportedly served over 200,000 meals.

A temporary JBJ Soul Kitchen location opened in February at the Ocean County Library in Toms River. This pop-up is scheduled to close in May, but Mayor Rodrick has criticized its presence. He claims the restaurant has contributed to a rise in the local unhoused population and alleged that people are being brought into the town for services. He also expressed concern about safety and taxpayer resources being used, adding that he wanted the pop-up closed.

The JBJ Soul Foundation responded by reaffirming its commitment to addressing homelessness with long-term solutions and denying the mayor's claims of increased safety incidents. Officials from the county also stated that data does not support the allegations of incidents or people being "bused in" for the pop-up location. They emphasized that the pop-up is a brief initiative to support those in need.

Tamie Konzier

A Pittsburgh-area esthetician and TikToker, recently showed how one thoughtful act can create life-changing ripple effects. While dining at a local Eat’n Park with her young son, Leo, Tamie Konzier noticed their 81-year-old waitress, Betty, struggling to move around. Overhearing Betty share with another patron that her $910 monthly Social Security wasn’t enough to cover her bills, Konzier felt compelled to help.

Thinking quickly, she turned to TikTok to share Betty’s story, promising to donate any proceeds from her Creator Rewards earnings directly to Betty. At that moment, she also left a $40 tip from her own wallet, hoping to provide immediate support.
Konzier's video quickly went viral, sparking an outpouring of kindness from TikTok users worldwide. Flooded with messages and donations, she set up a GoFundMe to ensure transparency and proper handling of the money. Within days, donations skyrocketed to over $328,000, allowing Betty to finally secure her financial future.
Betty was stunned and deeply grateful when Konzier shared the incredible total. “You don’t know what this is going to help me with,” she said. Konzier responded tearfully, “I hope it helps with everything.”
Through her quick thinking and genuine compassion, Konzier not only provided Betty with a chance to enjoy her golden years but also reminded us all that small acts of kindness, amplified by community support, have the power to profoundly change lives.

Joe Hunter and Eva Erickson

During the March 26 episode of Survivor, an emotional moment unfolded as contestant Joe Hunter provided comfort to Eva Erickson during a challenging immunity challenge.

Overwhelmed and overstimulated from the pressure of the game, Eva, who had revealed her autism to Joe earlier in the season, struggled to compose herself. Despite being on opposing tribes and risking exposure of his gameplay, Joe stepped in when host Jeff Probst granted him permission to console her.

Joe embraced Eva, offering reassuring words and following the specific grounding techniques she had shared previously. His actions helped calm Eva and allowed her to regain her focus. Reflecting on the moment, Eva described Joe as “my superhero” and emphasized the importance of asking for and accepting help as someone with autism.

The act of compassion brought Jeff Probst to tears for the first time in Survivor's 48-season history, as he recognized the significance of the moment for viewers, particularly young people watching at home. “That’s why I love Survivor,” Probst shared through visible emotion, highlighting the show’s power to create moments of humanity and connection.
